T.G.I. Friday’s

Text Box: T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants began in New York City at 1st Avenue and 63rd Street in March of 1965. Alan Stillman, the proprietor, wanted to bring food and beverage together for the purpose of meeting other career-oriented singles. Distinguished by its signature red and white awnings and Tiffany lamps, T.G.I. Friday’s quickly became “the meeting place” for single adults. In fact, Newsweek and The Saturday Evening Post called the opening of Friday’s the “dawn of the Singles Age.”

In 1975, Carlson Companies acquired T.G.I. Friday’s, and a new energy invigorated the brand as the restaurants began spreading throughout the United States. At the time of acquisition, there were 12 restaurants in 9 states. Today, there are more than 824 T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants in 48 states and 55 countries, including more than 200 international locations. T.G.I. Friday’s is easily recognized worldwide by its red and white stripes, outstanding and unique food and beverage choices, great service, and relaxing atmosphere.
