Green Mill Restaurant & Bar |
|
Myron Roth opened the Green Mill Inn, a soda fountain at the corners of Grand and Hennepin Avenues in St. Paul, MN, in the early 1930’s, and it became the oldest licensed pub in St. Paul. The original menu featured Chow Mein for 40 cents and Lobster for 65 cents. The Green Mill was purchased in 1975 by Chris Bangs, Larry Cardoni and David Bichanich. Within a year, armed with Cardoni’s family recipes and some impromptu food science performed by dissecting the deep-dish carry-out pizzas of 30 Chicago pizzerias, the group introduced its now famous Chicago-style deep dish pizza, and their reputation has continued to grow ever since. |

In 1990, Green Mill Restaurants, Inc. was developed to feed the demand of the award winning restaurants. As of 2002, there were over thirty franchise locations in five states with one unit in Curacao, Netherlands, and Antilles. Today, Green Mill is widely known as “Minnesota’s Most Awarded Pizza,” garnering over 30 awards from food critics of such publications as the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Twin Cities Reader and Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine.
